SWIMMING AND DIVING

The Cardinals had many top-eight finishes at the Class A state meet and earned fifth as a team. Freshman Kyler Kavanagh finished second in diving, which is the highest finish any Alexandria diver has had at the state meet.
The Cardinals shined in a variety of events on Friday and Saturday en route to winning the Section 5A title.
Logan Tung and Eric Peterson won Central Lakes Conference titles and helped Alexandria place third as a team.
The Alexandria boys swim and dive team ended the regular season on a good note with a 110-75 win over St. Cloud Apollo and will now prepare for the Central Lakes Conference meet.

The podcast episode focused on Kavanagh's days as a Cardinal, his transition to college and his experiences in diving.
The Alexandria boys swimming and diving team are a younger squad this year but still has expectations to be among one of the section's best. Alexandria has finished as the runner-up at the Class A state meet in back-to-back seasons.

Alexandria's Jisella Haskamp earned another top-eight finish at the state meet while Erica Johnson improved upon her 11th-place finish in the 1-meter dive at the 2021 MSHSL State diving meet with an eighth-place finish at the 2022 MSHSL State diving meet.
Alexandria placed second at the Section 6A meet and qualified a handful for the Class A state meet. The Alexandria coaching staff took home some Section 6A honors as well on Saturday. Grace Urke, Jisella Haskamp, Alaina Guenther and Brooklyn Millward broke a school record in the 200 medley relay and qualified for the state meet.
Haskamp set the CLC record in the 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:07.99 on her way to winning that event by more than 2 seconds.
