Jason Uhde received the most write-in votes to become the mayor of Garfield. He will take over for Mayor John Nienaber Jr., who decided to step down after serving on the council for more than 30 years.
Voter turnout was down 4% in Minnesota and 6% nationwide in the Nov. 8 election when compared to the 2018 midterm.

Nicole Mace wins a spot on the Alexandria City Council
With control of the two legislative chambers and the governor’s office, DFL lawmakers and Gov. Tim Walz will be able to take more decisive action on policy priorities as they will no longer have to make major compromises with Senate Republicans. That could include increasing funding for education, the creation of a paid family leave program, and the legalization of recreational marijuana.
The unofficial results from the Douglas County Auditor's Office show that 19,807 voters cast their ballots. That's more than the 18,166 votes in the 2018 midterm elections.
Steve Simon, who first took office in 2015, oversaw and certified Minnesota’s election in 2020, in which then-Sen. Joe Biden dashed the re-election hopes of Donald Trump by more than seven points statewide.
Alan Zeithamer has served on the board since 1983, while Shawn Reilly and Laura Knudsen are newcomers.
GOP challenger Ryan Wilson conceded the race to Blaha Wednesday afternoon.
Kalina, who represents District 2, beat out his challenger, former commissioner Jim Stratton. Schmidt, who will now represent District 5, beat out incumbent Heather Larson.
With unofficial results showing the race within just one point, Keith Ellison has declared victory.
As a first-time candidate, Alicia Kozlowski has demonstrated an ability to break barriers. They won in eastern Duluth's House 8B race.
Seeking his third consecutive term as the secretary of state, Simon ran his campaign working to dispel myths seeking to erode trust in Minnesota’s election system, including doubts stirred up by Republican challenger Kim Crockett.
