GLENWOOD

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reopened Highway 55 near Glenwood on Friday, Oct. 22.
Matt Laubach was able to walk away after his combine was hit by a train Saturday afternoon south of Glenwood. It was the second mishap to happen to him in less than 48 hours. The day before, he and his daughter tested positive for COVID-19.
Donations will go to the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties to purchase school supplies for students.
Officers were able to determine the victim, who was identified as Barbara Major, 68, of Glenwood was struck by a motor vehicle, while crossing 1st Avenue SW in Glenwood.

First food drop takes place Aug. 10 in Glenwood; school supplies being collected now.
Traffic will be detoured to County Road 26, County Road 7, County Road 11 in Farwell and Highway 55 for approximately five days.
