The Alexandria wrestling team split two Central Lakes Conference duals on Thursday night in Sauk Rapids by beating the host Storm 54-16 around a 42-24 loss to Rocori.

Sauk Rapids-Rice got the first two wins against Alexandria, but the Cardinals rattled off nine straight from there. Brenden Bryce (120) got an 8-3 decision win before a major decision (14-6) from Blaze Nelson at 126 pounds.

AJ Sparr (132, fall, 0:21), Cole Vatnsdal (138, forfeit), Kelly Johnson (145, forfeit), Cody Vatnsdal (152, forfeit), Tate Runge (160, fall, 3:12), JP Rodel (170, fall, 2:53), Mason Teaser (182, tech fall, 15-0) and David Rauscher (285, forfeit) added big points the rest of the way.

The Spartans took eight of the 14 weight classes over Alexandria and had six-point wins in six of those to secure the win.

The Cardinals’ wins came from Mason McGrane (106, 10-3), Nelson (126, forfeit), Sparr (132, forfeit), Johnson (145, 3-2), Rodel (170, 9-3) and Teaser (182, 14-7).

With the two wins, Sparr has tallied 99 victories for his career. He will go for No. 100 on Saturday when Alexandria hosts a triangular against Mahnomen and Pierz starting at 10 a.m.

Raiders keep cruising

Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie kept rolling along with two more easy wins on Thursday night, this time beating Breckenridge 72-9 and New York Mills 58-18.

Contested wins for the Raiders against NYM came from Bennet Arceneau (106, fall, 2:59), Aiden Larson (126, 2-0), Jason Koehn (152, 5-2), Tyler Eggert (182, 12-4 MD), Gideon Ervasti (195, fall, 1:10), James Grant (220, fall, 1:00) and Hayden Captain (285, fall, 1:11).

Eight forfeits benefitted B-H-V-Parkers Prairie against Breckenridge. Arceneau got the Raiders started with a pin in 1:55 at 106. Deagen Captain (120, fall, 3:42), Brock Peterson (170, fall, 1:45) and Ervasti (195, fall, 0:14) all added contested wins.
