Wrestling: Knights split at Barnesville Tri
The West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville wrestling team split a couple of matches at the Barnesville Triangular on Thursday night.
The Knights dominated Barnesville in a 63-18 final but fell in a 39-22 match against Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie.
Bertha-Hewitt-V-PP jumped out to a 15-0 lead through the first four weight classes before Reubens Swanson won a 4-3 decision at 132 pounds.
Other wins for the Knights came from Hunter Mickelsen (160, 10-0 MD), Colton Lindquist (182, 9-3), Wyatt Olson (195, fall, 1:57) and Devin Stone (220, fall, 4:30). Craig Orlando had a dominant match at heavyweight for B-H-V-PP, pinning Austin Mattson in just nine seconds.
The Knights had no problems with Barnesville as they racked up huge points throughout the match. Shad Swanson (5:31) got a pin and Ashton Danner won by forfeit to get things started in the first two weight classes.
Anthony Sykora added a pin in 42 seconds at 126 pounds, while Swanson won a 7-1 decision at 132. The rest of the wins earned the Knights six points each as Jordan Lohse (138, fall, 0:46), Kade Olson (145, fall, 1:37), Bryce Lien (152, fall, 0:55), Mickelsen (160, forfeit), Colton Lindquist (182, forfeit), Olson (195, forfeit) and Mattson (285, forfeit) helped their team run away with the win.
