West Central Area looks to build depth around four returners

West Central Area baseball coach Andy Koloski likes the guys he has to work with as the Knights try to build depth by season's end around returning players in Jordan Lohse, Colton Lindquist, Anthony Sykora and Ashton Danner.

West Central Area’s Jordan Lohse, Colton Lindquist, Anthony Sykora and Ashton Danner all bring back some varsity experience in baseball, and the Knights also have a big group in the sophomore and freshman classes heading into this spring season.

“The kids and coaches are excited to get back on the baseball field,” WCA head coach Andy Koloski said. “I expect us to compete in a tough section 6A. We have some good ball players with some depth on this year's roster. Hopefully we can improve and be playing our best baseball during the section tournament.”

Mark Adams, Ian Getz, Trent Koloski and Lohse are seniors, while Danner, Lindquist, Ryder Staples and Reubens Swanson make up the junior class.

“We have some competition at a lot of positions, which should make us better all around,” coach Koloski said. “We have several guys who can pitch, which is always good. We have hard-working kids that want to get better every day.”

Koloski is hoping to see guys develop with every game this year in order to be competitive in the section tournament by the end of the spring.

Koloski sees Ashby and Brandon-Evansville as teams to beat in the Pheasant Conference, with Ashby and New York Mills being a couple top contenders in the section.
