The West Central Area-Ashby football team had no problem bouncing back from its first loss of the regular season on Wednesday night after dropping a close game in Osakis during week seven.

The Knights (7-1) beat Underwood (3-5) 32-6 as they built a 26-0 lead by halftime. Anthony Sykora got them going with touchdown runs of 2 and 7 yards. Evan Paulson completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Cole Anderson. Carson Spangler ran for a 44-yard score, and Brady Lindquist added a 14-yard touchdown run.

That was plenty of offense for a WCA-Ashby defense that held the Rockets to just 93 total yards. Underwood averaged just 2.1 yards per play, while the Knights averaged 6.1 yards on 32 offensive plays.

The Knights will join Osakis (7-1) in having an extended break before opening the playoffs as the top-two seeds in Section 6AA earned byes. WCA-Ashby is seeded second and will open the playoffs on Oct. 30 by hosting the winner of third-seeded Sauk Centre (4-4) and sixth-seeded Pillager (0-8).

Osakis, which beat Pillager 26-0 on Wednesday night to secure the Midwest (White) District championship outright, is the No. 1 seed. The Silverstreaks will host the winner of fourth-seeded Staples-Motley (2-6) and fifth-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek (4-4) on Oct. 30 in the semifinals.
