The Minnewaska volleyball team hit the road on Thursday night and returned home with a four set West Central Conference defeat at the hands of the Montevideo Thunder Hawks (9-10).
The Lakers came out strong and won a close first set 25-23. But they were unable to maintain the momentum. The Thunderhawks took the second, third sets by wide margins, 25-7 and 25-11.
The Lakers fought for it in the fourth, but couldn't seal the deal. Montevideo won the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth.
Ellie Danielson led the Lakers at the net with nine of the team's 21 total kills. Jessica Lanoue and Emma Thorfinnson each held together the defense with 11 of the team's 48 digs.
This loss drops the Lakers' overall record to 4-16 with a conference record of 1-10.

The Lakers are on the road again on Tuesday, Oct. 10, when they head to Sauk Centre to play the Mainstreeters (14-6) at 7:30 p.m.
