Viking Speedway: Vogel, Bitzan, Froemming, Saurer and Robinson earn feature wins

ALEXANDRIA - The Viking Speedway in hosted its regular slate of races on Saturday with this night being the Short Tracker Special Plus Kids Night.

Shawn Robinson of Dalton was one of five drivers to celebrate in victory lane on Saturday as he won the Short Trackers feature, his third feature win of the season. Hunter Goulet of Fargo, North Dakota, and Shawn Beto of Wahpeton, North Dakota, rounded out the top three finishers in Saturday’s Short Trackers feature.

Justin Vogel of Brooten won the Street Stock feature. This is Vogel’s second win of the season, with his first coming on May 30, 2022.

Ryan Satter of Dent, who is the points leader in the division with 955, finished second in Saturday’s feature, while JJ Nieuwbeerta of Alexandria took third.

Brandon driver Taylor Bitzan earned his second victory of the season in the Midwest Modifieds feature. Travis Saurer of Elizabeth and Josh Muzik of Brandon finished second and third, respectively.

Bitzan’s first win of the season came on July 9.

Justin Froemming of Garfield earned his first win of the season in the Modifieds division. This is also his third top-five finish of the season.

Ryan Gierke of Villard and season points leader Dustin Bitzan of Brandon finished second and third, respectively.

The Super Stock feature once again went to Trevor Saurer of Dalton, who has won five times this season. He is the points leader in the division with 942.

Matt Miller of Glenwood, who is second in season point standings with 927, finished second on Saturday, while Jeff Crouse of Alexandria, finished third.

There are no races at the speedway on Saturday, Aug. 20, but there is the Douglas County Fair Demolition Derby on Friday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.

The Season Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27.
