The Minnewaska boys and girls track and field teams have met expectations thus far. On Tuesday afternoon they traveled to Benson and left with another strong performance.

The Laker girls finished with 214.5 points. Not only was it good enough for first place out of seven teams, the next-best team was over 60 points behind them.

Minnewaska took the top three spots in the girls triple jump. Kristen Glover took first (32-00.50), Alexis Piekarski finished in second (30-04.50) and Emma Kovarik took third (29-11.00).

Ellie Danielson’s 4-foot, 10-inch high jump was good enough to tie for first place with Alexis Pew from Morris. She also took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37.69.

Emily Kaiser took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.79. The relay teams also took first place in the 800 and the 200.

The boys team finished with 149.5 points, which slotted them in for second place overall.

John Helander took first place in the shot put with his throw of 44-05.25. Mateo Arredondo also took home a first place prize in the pole vault (11-00). The triple jump was won by Connor Johnsrud with his distance of 41-03.Jackson Meyer rounded out the Minnewaska first-place finishers by taking home the best time in the 100 meter dash (11.65).
