The Alexandria boys track and field team came away from a quad in Sartell with a first-place finish after tallying 338 team points last Thursday.
Senior Drew Olson was once again a big part of that as he had a hand in three first-place finishes. He ran the anchor leg with Kristen Hoskins, Cody Branson and Nolan Morical to win the 4x100 relay in 43.85 seconds.
Olson added wins in the 200-meter dash (22.43) and the 100-meter dash. His time of 10.82 seconds in the 100 dash broke the Alexandria school record that Olson set himself a year ago of 10.93 seconds. This outdoor record came after Olson already set a Central Lakes Conference Indoor record in the 60-meter dash earlier this April with a time of 6.88 seconds.
Olson’s big day was part of nine first-place finishes overall for the Cardinals. The 4x200 relay team of Graham Peterson, Adam Pohlen, Joshua Kietzmann and Ethan Schroeder won in 1:34.51 to join the 4x100 relay team in getting a win.
Individually, Schroeder ran a 51.90 in the 400-meter dash to win that event. Jaymeson Wolkow won the shot put with a throw of 48-feet, 4-inches and the discus with a mark of 129-07.
Kietzmann won the triple jump with a leap of 41-11, and Branson won the long jump with a mark of 20-10, as well.
