Former Minneapolis South guard Tayler Hill's state record for career points has been recognized as 3,888 by the Minnesota State High School League. She and her teammates won the Class AAAA championship at the 2009 State Girls' Basketball Tournament. Hill now plays for Ohio State University.
Hill's point total was verified from a variety of sources, including the school's scorebooks, news media reports, and from several independent sources that tracked her five-year varsity high school career.
Hill's 3,888 points surpassed the previous career mark of 3,694 for Minnesota girls. Katie Ohm of Elgin-Millville set that mark in 2005. The record also surpasses the boys career mark of 3,428 set by Cody Schilling of Ellsworth in 2008, also after a five-year varsity career.
It is possible that the total may be adjusted further if additional sources of verification surface. It is not likely that the total will change 10 points either up or down.
