The Alexandria boys soccer team lost its scoring touch on Tuesday night as Willmar hosted Alexandria and won a battle of the Cardinals in the Central Lakes Conference game.
Willmar (3-4, 2-2 CLC) needed just four saves from Leighton Winter to secure a shutout in the 3-0 final. Alexandria’s Ryan Meuwissen posted six saves, but Willmar got two goals in the first half and one more in the second to come away with the win.
Kelvin Gomez Padilla got things going with a score in the 11th minute off an assist from Walid Mahamed. Gomez Padilla’s big night was not over as he added two more goals the rest of the way to finish with the hat trick.
Alexandria fell to 3-3-1 overall and 2-3 in the CLC after the loss.
