The Alexandria boys soccer team could not get its offense going on the road against a good St. Cloud Tech program last Thursday night as the Tigers (5-0) won a 2-0 contest against the Cardinals.

St. Cloud Tech, the defending Central Lakes Conference champion, has allowed just one goal all season in its five straight wins.

“A strong wind provided a challenge in changing our point of attack throughout the match,” Alexandria head coach Brandon Johnson said. “The Tigers were able to secure two goals: one in the 10th minute of play and the final goal in the 41st minute of play. Both teams played a great match full of energy and strong, competitive soccer.”

Alexandria had possession 41.7% of the time and got just five shots on goal. Alexandria sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Meuwissen faced 17 shots.

The Cardinals are 3-2-1 and 2-2 in the CLC heading into another Section 8A and conference showdown on Monday night. Alexandria hosts 3-1 Sartell-St. Stephen at 7 p.m.
