The Brandon-Evansville softball team put up 25 runs in its doubleheader sweep of West Central Area on Friday afternoon.
Six runs in the third inning of game two led to a 15-0 win for the Chargers. Kylee Dingwall was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Sydney Schaefer, Bailey Schaefer, Taylin Kramer and Kiley Lund also had multi-hit games. Bailey Schaefer drove in the first two runs of the game with a home run in the first inning.
“We were able to get started early with a double from Sydney Schaefer and then a home run over the center-field fence by Bailey Schaefer,” B-E head coach Kasi Sieling said. “Our defense played clean to back up Taylin in the circle throughout this game. Offensively, we saw contributions from everyone throughout the lineup to add runs in every inning.”
Kramer threw five shutout innings and struck out four batters. She surrendered just five baserunners on one hit.
WCA sparked a late rally in game one, but it fell short as the Chargers took home a 10-5 win. Bailey Schaefer was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Mikenna Pattrin allowed five hits in seven innings. She struck out 10 batters and gave up just two earned runs.

“We did a nice job of hitting the ball hard and capitalizing on defensive miscues,” Sieling said. “The girls were aggressive on the bases and moved each other around to get runs in. Defensively, we struggled to make plays, but we made enough to limit their runs in the first six innings. We left runners on base to finish the game.”
The two wins moved B-E to 5-1 in the Pheasant Conference, while WCA fell to 4-4 in the conference and 4-6 overall.
