The Osakis softball team is still going in the Section 6-2A playoffs after splitting two games on June 3.

The Silverstreaks (14-7) were forced into an elimination game after a 6-3 loss to Albany (17-4) in their first game on Thursday. Osakis got the job done against Pillager (11-12), winning 12-2 to advance to another elimination game on June 4 at 3 p.m. back in Waite Park.

Laynee Hartshorn homered against the Huskies, and Kennedy George went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. That was plenty of offense for Hayleigh Niehoff, who went all five innings and allowed just one earned run.

Albany built up an early lead through the first two innings on Thursday. Hallie Hoffarth made that hold up in the three-run victory. She went all seven innings and allowed the three Osakis runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out three.

Niehoff went six innings for Osakis. She also struck out three around seven Albany hits and a walk as the Huskies got to her for six runs.
