Hayleigh Niehoff tossed a four-inning no-hitter from the circle on Monday and also led the offense in the Osakis softball team’s 18-0 rout of Swanville (1-4).
Niehoff struck out six without allowing a hit or a walk. She also had two runs scored and four RBIs as the Silverstreaks improved to 7-1.
“Hayleigh threw a great game,” head coach John Stigman said. “Her only blemish was a hit batter in the first, otherwise she was lights out today. We didn’t get a lot of pitches to hit, but when we did, we made them count. Lexi Klimek capped off our scoring with her first career grand slam. We played well today.”
Swanville issued 11 walks around Osakis’ seven hits. Laynee Hartshorn doubled, Tia Dykema tripled and Klimek finished with five RBIs.

Chargers dominate in doubleheader
Brandon-Evansville (11-2) outmatched Ortonville (0-8) in a doubleheader sweep by 18-2 (4 innings) and 9-2 scores.
“We came strong in the first game and got the bats going early to give us a lead we could hold onto throughout the night,” B-E head coach Kasi Sieling said. “Offensively, we got contributions from everyone in our lineup, which is always great to see. Taylin (Kramer) threw another solid game and the defense did a nice job of making the plays to back her up.”

Sydney Schaefer and Mikenna Pattrin both had three-hits games in the 18-2 win. Sophie Koep added three hits and two RBIs in the 9-2 final. Pattrin had 7 RBIs between the two games.

“The girls came out strong in the first inning of the second game to carry the momentum from the opener and set the tone for the nightcap,” Sieling said. “We did a nice job of hitting the ball hard and being aggressive on the bases to take advantage of everything we got. Our defense did a nice job of making plays and limiting their baserunners. All of our players did a nice job of stepping up tonight with a couple of players missing and filling into positions they don’t normally play. These were two nice team wins.”
