The Alexandria baseball team got a couple of standout pitching performances to snap a five-game losing streak on Tuesday in a sweep of Sauk Rapids-Rice.

The Cardinals (7-7) beat the Storm (3-6) 3-1 and 2-1 behind Devan Swerman and Shay Endres. Endres scattered four hits and two walks through a complete game in the 2-1 win. He struck out 13, and a two-run top of the second inning was enough offense for him.

Endres scored the first of those runs, and Lake Hagen singled in Elijah Holthaus for the game winner.

Swerman went six innings in the 3-1 win. He scattered six hits and a walk around five strikeouts. Parker Jendro fanned two in a scoreless seventh inning to get the save.

Brock Lerfald and Holthaus both had an RBI as Alexandria scored two runs in the third and one more in the fifth. JD Hennen scored two runs, and Brady McCoy added the other.

The Cardinals will try to carry the momentum into two more home games this week. They host Rocori (5-5) on Thursday and Becker (4-6) on Friday. Both are 5 p.m. start times.
