Rocori erupts for 26 runs in doubleheader sweep of Alexandria

Errors haunt Alexandria in game one of the doubleheader, while Rocori spoils a late comeback for the Cardinals in game two.

The Alexandria softball team ran into a tough team in the Central Lakes Conference on Tuesday as Rocori snapped the Cardinals’ four-game winning streak to start the season.

The Spartans (4-2) swept a doubleheader in Alexandria (4-2), taking 14-3 and 12-11 finals. Rocori walked off with the win in the nightcap with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. Both offenses broke out in that game with a combined 28 hits. Jordan O’Kane had three RBIs for the Cardinals, while Josie Steidl drove in two on two hits.

Rocori had 10 hits and used five Alexandria errors to its advantage in game one. The Spartans scored eight unearned runs on those miscues.

Emma Magaard had two RBIs for Alexandria as the Cardinals collected five hits in the opener.
