ROSEAU – The Alexandria girls hockey team (7-7-1, 4-2-1 Section 8AA) jumped on Roseau (11-7, 3-3 Section 8AA) early and didn’t look back on Friday. Alexandria scored two goals in the first four minutes and cruised to a 5-1 victory.
Senior forward Hanley Block scored the Cardinals' first two goals of the game, on assists from junior forward Lauren Maras.
Maras has scored a point in the Cardinals' last four games and last six out of seven as well.
The Cardinals capped off the first period with a goal from senior forward Peyton Boesl.
Junior Ella Westlund scored on a power play with 11:14 left in the second period to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead heading to the final frame.

Senior defender MaKenna Aure capped off the scoring for the Cardinals with a goal on an assist from Westlund.
Senior Hailee Bailey earned the win net on Friday, saving 27 shots and allowing just one goal.
Westlund, Maras and freshman Kennedy Ellingson all had two assists, while senior defender Riley Nyberg added one as well.
The win over Roseau comes after the Cardinals also beat Section 8AA rival Brainerd-Little Falls on Jan. 11 as Alexandria proved in the last week that it can play with some of the top teams in the section.
Alexandria hits the road again Tuesday for a game against Sartell-Sauk Rapids. Puck drop is at 7:15 p.m. Alexandria beat Sartell-Sauk Rapids earlier in the year on Dec. 2, 8-0.
