The Alexandria wrestling team came out of winter break in style by earning a pair of victories on the road at Lake Park Audubon High School on Tuesday.
Alexandria defeated Dillworth-Glyndon-Felton, 39-30, and United Clay Becker, 57-18.
In the dual against DGF, Alexandria held a 33-30 lead heading into the final match when sophomore Luke Maanum earned a first period pin (1:18) in his match at 285 pounds, which sealed Alexandria’s 39-30 win.
Starting with a win by senior Kelly Johnson at 170 by forfeit, Alexandria won the final four out of five matches. Senior Landon Seward (182) earned a pin in the third period of his match (4:38), while junior Pablo Garcia (195) had a first period pin (1:31) in his match.
The Cardinals started off the dual with two wins. Freshman Nolan Fettig (106) earned a 7-2 decision, while 8th-grader Drayson Elfering (113) earned a second period pin (2:22).

Senior Cole Vatnsald (152) earned a 4-2 decision in the dual.
Against United Clay Becker, Alexandria had four pins, one from Elfering (1:11), one from senior Blaze Nelson at 145 (0:36), one from Seward (1:03), and one from Maanum (3:12).
The Cardinals won five matches via forfeit, Fettig at 106, senior Isaac Saffert at 132, freshman Brendan Bryce at 138, Vatnsald at 152, and Johnson at 170.
Junior Mason McGrane earned a 4-2 decision in his match at 126 pounds in the dual.
Fettig is 11-0 this season, while Elfering is 7-5, McGrane is 8-0, and Saffert is 1-2. Bryce is 5-3 on the season, while Nelson is 10-2, Vatsnald is 5-3, and Johnson is 5-3.
Seward has a 9-3 record this season, while Garcia is 4-6, and Maanum is 5-6.
With these wins, the Cardinals are now 8-2 in duals this season.
Alexandria returns to the match on Thursday for duals against Bemidji and Brainerd at home, starting at 5 p.m.
