Track and field: Minnewaska sends huge group on to Section 5A meet from subsections

The Minnewaska girls finished second in the team point standings at the subsection meet in Sauk Centre on Tuesday, while the boys were third.

The Minnewaska track and field teams will send a huge group of athletes on to the Section 5A meet at St. John’s University on June 1 after the Lakers competed well at subsections on Tuesday in Sauk Centre.

The Minnewaska girls were second at the subsection meet with 187.25 points. Eden Valley-Watkins won the subsection with 223.75 points.

The Minnewaska boys were third at 121 points, while Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (178.5) and Sauk Centre (172) took the top two spots.

With just two subsections in Section 5A, the top-five individuals from each event and the next six best times between both subsections qualify for the section meet. The top three relays and next two best times also qualify.
