Tennis: Osakis opens Section 6A Team Tournament with a sweep

The Osakis girls tennis team began the Section 6A Team Tournament on Wednesday on a strong note with a 7-0 win over St. John's Prep. The Silverstreaks are set to compete in the section tournament semifinals in Rogers on Tuesday.

OSAKIS - The Osakis girls tennis team (17-6) shined in its opening round Section 6A team tournament matchup against St. John’s Prep with a 7-0 sweep on Wednesday. Osakis is the No. 3 seed in the section, while St. John’s Prep is the No. 6 seed.

Freshmen Leah Maddock and Bella Weisser, along with junior Bria Hoffarth and senior Larissa Hoffarth earned the singles sweep for Osakis. Osakis only allowed one point combined in the singles matches.

The Silverstreaks earned sweeps from the doubles teams of senior Ellie George/junior Madeline Anderson, junior Lauren Anderson/ senior Madi Collins, and junior Brenna Moen/senior Lyndsey Middendorf. Each team only allowed their opponents to score one point in their matches.

Osakis is headed to the section semifinals and will face the winner of Thursday’s match (4 p.m.) between the No. 2 seed New London-Spicer and the No. 7 Sauk Centre, on Tuesday in Rogers.
