MINNEAPOLIS- The Minnewaska boys tennis team finished off its stellar season against Litchfield in a fifth place match at the MSHSL Class A State Tournament on Wednesday that Litchfield won 4-3.
The Lakers had a win at No. 1 singles from Tate Reichmann (6-3, 6-4) over Alex Draeger. The Lakers' other two wins came at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Seniors Damon Uhde and Nik VanDyke earned a three set victory over Braden Olson and Tyler Pennertz (3-6, 7-5, 10-5) at No. 1 doubles.
The duo of freshman Tenzin Dahl/sophomore Connor Quelle earned a straight-set victory over Litchfield seniors Brady Cannon and Eli Schacherer (6-1, 6-4).
Minnewaska’s Noah Palmer, a junior, and Alec Larson, a senior, won the first set in their match against junior Gray Nelson and 8th-grader Josh Blomberg at No. 3 doubles. But things shifted in Nelson and Blomberg’s favor as they won set two 7-5 and set three 10-8 to win the match.

The Lakers lost 4-3 to Rock Ridge (Virginia, MN) to begin the tournament but bounced back to beat Luverne (6-1) to get to the fifth place match.
Reichmann will take part in the individual state tournament, beginning on Thursday with a match against the No. 3 seed Kai Sih of St. Paul Academy - Summit.
