Softball: Rocori holds off Alexandria for doubleheader sweep

Brooklyn Stender, Peyton Goetsch and Bri Burtzel have big days at the plate for the Cardinals.

COLD SPRING — The Alexandria softball team (0-3) was on the road at Rocori on Tuesday night where the Spartans beat the Cardinals in a doubleheader by scores of 12-8 and 5-3.

Jordan O’Kane and Madi Heid shared the innings from the circle as they combined for six strikeouts.

Brooklyn Stender was 5-for-7 between the two games. She had four singles, a double and three RBIs.

Peyton Goetsch also went 5-for-7 with a double and two RBIs. Bri Burtzel almost helped lead Alexandria to a win in game two with two doubles that led to three RBIs.

The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home on Thursday starting at 4 p.m. for a doubleheader against Fergus Falls.
