Teams out of the Alexandria Area Soccer Association saw some recent success at the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association summer state championships.
All three AASA teams that competed placed in their divisions. The U14 and U18 boys teams each finished second, while the U12 Black girls team took first place for the second straight year.
U12 Black girls
The AASA U12 Black girls team is coached by Mike Helwig. They were dominant defensively in their four games, allowing just two goals on the way to the championship.
Alexandria beat Central MN Youth Soccer Association in the title game by a 1-0 score. That was after a 3-1 win over Minnesota Rush, 6-1 win over the Central MN team and a 2-0 win over the Great River Soccer Club.
Players on the U12 roster are Alexis Bergs, Maya Dutton, Kearyn Elfering, Abigail Helwig, Josie Huebner, Lilly Klimek, Emma Laurent, Lylah Marshall, Jada McAdoo, Lucille Sanden, Emma Schmidt, Eden Sorlie, Grace Urness, Ella Walz, and Mila Warzecha.

U18 boys

The U18 boys team was coached by Phil Pham and Zach Lamb.
Alexandria fell in a 3-2 game in the championship against Willmar. They started the tournament with a 3-0 win over Mississippi Valley Soccer U18 Blue and a 2-1 win over Mississippi Valley Soccer U17. Alexandria also played to a 2-2 tie with Club Deportivo Lobos U17.

U14 boys

Stephanie Rutten-Ramos coached the U14 boys team to the second-place finish.
Alexandria dropped a 5-1 game to TCYSC in the championship game. They went 4-0 ahead of that game with a 4-2 win over CC United, an 11-0 win over Gitchi Gummi, a 2-1 win over New Ulm United and a 5-2 victory over SAYEC.
