The Osakis girls basketball team moved to 11-5 as the Silverstreaks went on the road and took a 51-46 game against Royalton (6-7) on Tuesday night.
“To go on the road and beat a good Royalton team is a great accomplishment,” Osakis head coach Pat Kalpin said. “Royalton was a much bigger team, so our girls had to adjust to their length. Early in the game, we struggled to get good shots, but as the game went on, we were more patient and didn't try to hurry things.
“Defensively, we worked hard and were able to rebound the ball, especially late in the game. We had some big buckets by Tessa Stanek, Mara VanNhuis and Hayleigh Niehoff late in the game that helped seal the win for us. With Royalton being in our section, this was also a key win for seeding purposes.”
It was the 13th time in 16 games that Osakis has held an opponent to less than 50 points. The Silverstreaks are now 3-0 against Section 6AA teams.
