Gymnastics: Alexandria takes fourth at conference meet

Alexandria recorded a couple of personal bests at the conference meet, and a handful of gymnasts finished with all-conference honors.

The end of the Alexandria gymnastics team’s season is drawing closer as it just competed in the Central Lakes Conference meet on Saturday in Brainerd and placed fourth as a team (133.5).

Sara Eddy scored a personal best in the floor event (8.975) and placed fifth, while Witt cracked the top 10 (8.8). Chloe Steele placed 22nd (8.125), Addison Twa placed 23rd (8.1), and Addison Fettig placed 24th (7.85).

Twa and Izzy Kent tied for fifth on Saturday on the bars with a score of 8.2, while Dylan Witt and Addison Gulbranson placed 14th (7.55), and Kiera Christensen placed 17th (7.3).

Five Cardinals placed in the top 20 on the vault on Saturday, led by a seventh place finish by Witt (9.15), Eddy with an 11th place finish (8.9), and Jamie Aldis with a 12th place finish (8.85, a personal best). Fettig placed 18th (8.55), and Twa placed 20th (8.4).

Kent placed ninth on the beat (8.3), while Twa placed 12th (8.2), and Eddy placed 13th (8.175). Fettig placed 17th (7.875), and Savannah Auran placed 25th (7.125).


Twa posted an all-around score of 32.8 which placed her eighth.

Alexandria had four athletes finish the season with all-conference honors (top 10 in conference standings). Eddy finished with all-conference honors on the vault (fifth), while Witt did so as well, placing ninth, Kent earned all-conference honors by placing third, and Witt earned all-conference honors in the floor event by finishing ninth this season.

The 11th and 12 place finishers in the conference standing earn honorable mentions, and Alexandria had three honorable mentions: Fettig on the vault (12th), Eddy on the floors (12th), and Twa in the all-around score (11th).

The Cardinals compete in the Section 8AA meet at St. Cloud Tech at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
