Gymnastics: Alexandria cruises over Moorhead

Senior Ailynn Fettig wins every event to lead the way.

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria gymnastics team controlled its meet against Moorhead on Tuesday night, beating the Spuds comfortably in a 135.725 to 118.750 final.

Another big performance by Ailynn Fettig led the way as she finished first in the all-around scores with a 36.275. Fettig was first on the vault (9.35), bars (9.0), beam (8.8) and floor (9.125).

It was part of multiple top-five finishes for the Cardinals. Sara Eddy (second, 9.1), Loren Buggert (third, 8.8), Izzy Kent (fourth, 8.75) and Addison Fettig (fifth, 8.7) made it a clean sweep on the vault.

Kent was second on the bars with an 8.6, and Addison Gulbranson (8.05) and Buggert (7.6) were third and fourth, respectively. Hailie Kent and Buggert tied for third on beam with scores of 7.9, and Ellie Rauk tied for fourth at 7.65.

Dylan Witt helped round out the win on the floor with an 8.5. That tied her with Eddy for second place, while Jamie Aldis (third, 8.1) and Addison Fettig (fifth, 7.85) rounded out the Cardinals’ top-five finishers.
