The West Central Area boys golf team made some history on Monday en route to winning the Ashby Quad County Meet. WCA set a school scoring record of 322 and won the meet by 37 strokes.
"It was a good couple of days for our boys,” WCA head coach Kraig Hunter said. "Obviously, outstanding play by everyone on Monday to set a school record.”
Three Knights medaled on Monday, with Mitch Dewey taking second with a score of 76 (three strokes behind winner Trevor Swonger from Underwood), Peyton Hanson finishing fourth with a score of 77 and Marshall Dewey earning fifth with a score of 81.
WCA built off of a great performance Monday with good performances on Tuesday. It took part in two 9-hole West Central Conference meets and finished in the top three in both.
At the Tipsinah Mounds meet in the afternoon, the Knights finished in second with a score of 166, 10 strokes behind winner Minnewaska.

Earlier in the day, the Knights finished tied for third in a meet at Pomme de Terre Golf Club in Morris. WCA tied for third with Benson at 183, three strokes behind runner up Morris and 23 strokes behind the top finisher, Minnewaska.
Mitch Dewey earned fifth with a round of 42 and Peyton Hanson earned seventh with a round of 44. Sam Hanson scored a 48, Marshall Dewey scored a 49, Amundson had a 52, Flint had a 58 and Fisk had a 73.
“The neat thing about our team on Tuesday is we had Mitch and Peyton placing in the top 10 in the first meet and Marshall and Sam both were among the leaders the whole time in the second meet. Also, our fifth golfer, Brett Amundson, continues to improve and is usually in the top third of the 54 golfers. It shows our team's depth. Our goal is to continue to improve each day."
The Knights hit the course again on Monday for a meet at Ortonville that begins at noon.
