The Brandon-Evansville golf programs are in their first season as a co-op with Ashby.
“We are excited to blend together and become one team throughout the season,” head coach Andy Peterson said.
Peterson is confident that A-B-E will have one of the better girls varsity groups that he has had in a long time in what is his eighth season coaching. Tom Gronwold will serve as his assistant.
Celi Nelson leads the girls group after qualifying for the state meet in 2021. Lilly Evavold, Emma Erickson and Raelynn Ripley are other golfers who return with varsity experience, while Jacob Cook and Ethan Johnsrud are returning varsity players for the boys team. Traeton Nelson, John Anderson and Kolby Bitzan are some of the golfers who Peterson said have a chance to make an impact on varsity as well.
“We will have one of the better girls varsity groups that we have had in a long time, and we will be competitive on the boys side,” Peterson said. “We have a lot of players who are eager to improve their game and are motivated…we can always improve our technique and eliminate poor course awareness mistakes.”
