Football: Rockford shuts out Minnewaska 43-0

The Rockford Rockets (3-2) score three offensive and three defensive touchdowns in a 43-0 win over Minnewaska (0-5).

MINNEWASKA AREA - The Rockford football team improved to 3-2 (3-1 District - Mid State (Sub 1)) with three offensive and three defensive touchdowns in a win over the Minnewaska Lakers (0-5, 0-4 District - Mid State (Sub 1)).

Alex Altmann, Logan Stedman and Harrison Brun each had an interception return for a touchdown in the win on Friday for the Rockets.

Rockford forced four turnovers in the win.

Altmann also contributed to the Rockets' first touchdown of the game as he was on the receiving end of a 23-yard touchdown pass from Timothy Houghton in the first quarter.

Rockford had 220 rushing yards in the game (285 total) led by Patrick Andry with 92 yards and two touchdowns. Stedman rushed for 44 yards.

Minnewaska had 187 yards of offense, 101 through the air, and 86 on the ground.

Austin Ballhagen was the leading receiver for the Lakers as he had 4 catches for 75 yards. Jack Majerus led the Lakers in rushing yards with 68.

The Minnewaska defense forced one turnover in the game.

Minnewaska is on the road on Oct. 7 against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (3-2, 3-0 Section 6AAA), while Rockford hosts Montevideo (1-4, 1-3 Section 6AAA).
