The Osakis boys tennis team took on Mora and New London-Spicer on Thursday as Mora defeated Osakis 5-2, while New London-Spicer won 6-1.
The Silverstreaks got a big win in the Mora match as undefeated junior Isaac Maddock knocked off Max Sampson in straight sets at the No. 1 singles spot.
“(Sampson) is currently the fourth-ranked player in the state in Class A tennis,” Osakis head coach Ryan Maddock said.
Osakis’ Micah Moore also earned a big victory as he defeated Ledgyn Nelson at the No. 4 singles spot in straight sets.
“Micah Moore also had an outstanding performance,” Ryan Maddock said.

Mora swept the doubles matches against Osakis.
Isaac Maddock picked up his second victory of the day by beating New London-Spicer’s Kenneth Schmiesing in straight sets.
Tyler Stier fought hard with Jowell Gamez as that match had to be decided by a third set. Connor Gulbranson and Marcus Wolf also forced a third set against New London-Spicer at No. 1 doubles.
“We had really good efforts vs NLS coming up just short in a couple of third set tie-breakers and some other close sets,” Ryan Maddock said. “Our team is showing improvement and all of our experience this year should pay off down the road.”
The Silverstreaks host Yellow Medicine East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
