The Alexandria boys hockey team broke a scoreless tie in its game on the road against Fergus Falls on Thursday by scoring three goals which helped it earn a 4-1 win.
Alexandria is now 2-0 this season against Fergus Falls. Alexandria beat Fergus Falls, 4-0, on Jan. 20, 2023, in Alexandria.
Alexandria (9-12-1, 2-1 Section 6A) is the second-highest Section 6A team in the QRF rankings on Minnesota-scores.net, while Fergus Falls (12-8-2, 4-2 Section 6A) is the highest-rated team in the section.
Leo Kompelien broke the scoreless tie on Thursday with a power play goal early in the second period, which was followed by a Joe Lamski goal and another goal by Kompelien later in the period.
Kellen Stenstrom knotted cut Fergus Falls’ deficit down to two with a late second period goal, but a Caleb Lind goal five and a half minutes into the third frame was the insurance goal that Alexandria needed to seal the 4-1 win.

Kompelien, Gavin Olson, Henry Ramstorf, Keegan Lucy, and Gage Castle had an assist for Alexandria in the win.
The Cardinals had a 45-21 shot on goal edge in the win. EJ Rasmusen earned the win in net for the Cardinals and made 20 saves.
Alexandria plays three games over the next week to end its regular season, the first of which is a game at Detroit Lakes (16-6-1) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
