The Alexandria boys hockey team avenged a 2-1 loss on the road to the St. Cloud Crush on Feb. 9, with a 4-2 win at the Runestone Community Center on Friday.
Alexandria jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period with goals by Nick Peterson, Gavin Olson, and Evan Anderson. A Joe Lamski power play goal early in the second period gave Alexandria a 4-0 lead.
St. Cloud scored two goals toward the end of the game, but didn’t have enough momentum to complete a comeback.
Alexandria had a 35-29 shot on goal advantage in the game. EJ Rasmusen had the win in net for Alexandria and made 27 saves.
Tyler Kludt had three assists in the game, while Leo Kompelien, Kasen Muscha, Peterson, and Olson had one.

Alexandria started the season with a 1-9 record but rallied starting on Jan. 10 with a 6-3 win over Brainerd. Alexandria went 10-3-1 in its final 14 games of the regular season and finished second in the Central Lakes Conference standings (8-2-1), behind Sartell-St. Stephen (16-6-2, 9-1-2 CLC).
Alexandria (11-12-1, 3-1 Section 6A) is the No. 1 seed in the Section 6A Playoffs and hosts the No. 8 seed Breckenridge-Wahpeton (1-23, 0-7 Section 6A) on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
Alexandria, the defending section champions, beat Breckenridge-Wahpeton 19-0 in the first round of last season’s playoffs.
The winner of the Alexandria versus Breckenridge-Wahpeton game will play either the No. 5 seed Morris-Benson Area (15-9, 7-3 Section 6A) or the No. 4 seed Wadena-Deer Creek (14-9-2, 6-3 Section 6A) at the MAC in St. Cloud at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.
