The Osakis Silverstreaks and Sauk Centre Mainstreeters played in a thriller on Saturday in Osakis that saw Sauk Centre pull out a 70-67 win.

“It was a fun high school game with a great atmosphere, but we just let it slip away by not being able to get stops at the end of regulation and in overtime,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “We couldn't make free throws when we needed to. Sauk played great defense, but we were able to get them in foul trouble and attack some of their weaknesses. It worked for a while, but they made a good adjustment causing our guys to force a few things. Those decisions turned into baskets on the other end as we scrambled at times to find who we were guarding or what we were supposed to do scheme-wise.”

Osakis, who is ranked No. 18 in the Class AA MBN poll, shot 41 percent from the floor (20-48), 34 percent from the three-point line (8-23), and 57 percent from the free throw line (19-33).

This loss snapped Osakis’ five-game winning streak.

“I know guys are disappointed, but it's likely we see them in the playoffs, so we have to learn from these mistakes and hopefully get another crack at them,” Hoelscher said.
