The Alexandria boys basketball team showed out in its first road game of the season as it cruised to a 76-35 win on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, over Sauk Rapids-Rice (0-2).
Grayson Grove led the Cardinals offense with 20 points and he collected nine rebounds as well, both of which were team-highs.
Jacob Balcome and Jaxon Schoenrock joined him in double figures with 14 and 15 points, respectively.
The Cardinals (2-1) were very active on the defensive end as they held the Storm to less than 38 points for the first time since Jan. 13, 2017. The Cardinals were the last team to hold the Storm under 40 points, as they did that on Dec. 9, 2021.
Schoenrock finished the game with seven deflections and five steals, while Trevin Hoepner had four deflections and four steals, along with six rebounds. Hoepner finished with a team-high four assists.

Steffensmeier had two deflections and three steals as well, while Mason Witt had four deflections and one steal and were amongst the many Cardinals who collected defensive stats.
Alexandria is back at home for games against Willmar (1-1) on Tuesday and Bemidji (2-1) on Thursday. Both games tip off at 7:15 p.m.
