Basketball: B-E boys rout Swanville; girls fall to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy
The Brandon-Evansville boys team earned a 21-point win over Swanville, while a fast start helped the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy girls defeat B-E on Monday.
The Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team scored a team-high 80 points in its 21-point win over Swanville (4-8) on Monday.
“I thought we did a good job of setting the tone with our defensive energy,” B-E head coach Trent Hintermeister said. “We have talked a lot about being more physical and playing with pride defensively. I thought, for the most part, we did that. Our seniors did a great job getting the rest of our team ready to go.”
The Chargers knocked down 15 three-pointers in the win.
B-E’s offense was led by Dezmond White, who had 26 points on the night and Micah Fuller had 15 points along with eight rebounds.
The Chargers got out to a 37-22 lead in the first half.
B-E (3-9) hits the road on Tuesday to face Parkers Prairie (6-4) on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Fast start lifts Hillcrest Lutheran Academy over B-E girls
The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy girls got off to a great start in its 67-50 win over B-E on Monday.
Hillcrest (11-6) led 17-0 five minutes into the game and never looked back in its win over B-E (3-9).
“We had a case of the Mondays,” B-E head coach Steve Schreiber said. “We started off very slow We had a great conversation at halftime about battling through tough times even when you don't feel 100 percent, and we came out better in the second half.”
B-E trailed 40-18 at halftime but cut its deficit to 12 in the second half (59-47). Hillcrest was able to put the finishing touches on the game.
Kylie Dingwall had 20 points in the game, while Haddy Baune had 13 points. EmmaLee Brethorst had five points, while Ava Santjer and Kaia Emter had three points. Grace Otto, Taylor Dingwall, and Maddy Anderson all had two points in the game.
B-E hosts LPGE (1-14) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
