Basketball: Alexandria boys top Rocori, B-E girls earn road win over Ashby

A balanced offense gave the Alexandria boys a win over Rocori, while the Brandon-Evansville girls had a dominant second half in a win over Ashby.

The Alexandria boys basketball team snapped the Rocori Spartans’ 6-game winning streak by earning a 62-55 win in Cold Spring.

Alexandria improved to 15-4 (10-2 Central Lakes Conference) and dropped Rocori to 12-8,( 5-6 CLC).

Bralyn Steffensmeier led the Alexandria offense with a team-high 17 points, while Jaxon Schoenrock finished with 13 points, Chase Thompson finished with 12, and Grayson Grove finished with 10. Grove finished with a team-high eight rebounds along with a team-high five blocks.

This is the Cardinals' second win of the season over the Spartans, as they earned a 70-39 win in Alexandria on Dec. 20, 2022.

Alexandria is on the road again on Friday at 7:15 p.m. against St. Cloud Apollo (1-19, 0-11 CLC).

Strong second half lifts B-E girls over Ashby

The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team broke a 23-23 tie at halftime against the Ashby Arrows on Monday by outscroing Ashby 36-11 in the second half to earn a 59-34 win.

B-E is now 8-14 (5-12 Section 6A), while Ashby is 1-20 (1-16 Section 6A).

Haddy Baune led the B-E offense with 18 points, while Sydney Schaefer joined her in double figures with 11 points.

BrookeLinn Finkelson led the Ashby offense with 18 points.

B-E hosts Hancock (18-3-, 16-1 Section 6A) at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Ashby plays at Parkers Prairie (8-13, 5-11 Section 6A).
