ALEXANDRIA - The Alexandria Zimny Insurance Post 87 baseball team improved to 8-5 with a sweep over East Grand Forks thanks to timely hitting in the later innings.
Alexandria won 6-3 at Knute Nelson Memorial Field and won game two 4-3 on Wednesday.
All six of Alexandria’s runs in game one came in the fifth inning.
Caleb Runge started the scoring for Alexandria on an RBI single that allowed Grady Anderson to score to make it 3-1. Alexandria tied the game with an RBI double by Wyatt Mohr and an RBI single by Nate Hammerback.
Mohr scored on a passed ball and then Lake Hagen hit an RBI double to make it 5-3 Alexandria. Augie Gulbranson knocked in the game's final run on an RBI single.

Devin Cimbura was the winning pitcher for Alexandria and he struck out three batters in one inning pitched. Nick Levasseur earned the save for Alexandria in game one.
Alexandria had 12 hits in the opener, led by Grady Anderson with three.
Much like in game one, East Grand Forks jumped out to a lead after the top of the first inning in game two. EGF had a 3-1 lead after the top of the fifth inning.
Alexandria tied things up on an RBI double by Hammerback and an RBI single by Gulbranson. Mohr delivered the final blow in the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win for Alexandria. Mohr had a game-high two RBIs.
Mohr’s home run is the first that the team has hit in legion league play. Mohr has a team-high .429 batting average so far this summer.
Reed Reisdorf was the winning pitcher for Alexandria.
The Post 87 team is headed to Prior Lake for the Gopher Classic which runs from Friday through Sunday.
The Alexandria junior teams will be playing in a home tournament on those days as well.

Starbuck throws a combined no-hitter in a five-inning win over Atwater
STARBUCK - The Starbuck Jr. Legion team beat Atwater 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
Nathan Dell and Ryland Martin threw a combined no-hitter in the win. Dell pitched four innings and struck out three batters, while Martin pitched in the final inning and struck out one batter.
Starbuck committed three errors and walked five batters in the game.
Dylan Alexander went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double and two RBIs. Austin Weber also went 3-for-3 including a double and had an RBI.
Jack Majerus and Levi Johnson also had two RBIs in the game.
In addition to three hits from Alexander and Weber, Johnson, Majerus, Noah Jensen and Alex Panitzke had a hit in the game for Starbuck.
