With a 13-10 record, the Minnewaska baseball team put together a winning season with a talented, young nucleus in 2022. The Lakers were the No. 5 seed in Section 3AA North and earned a playoff win over New London-Spicer before falling to Paynesville Area and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
Senior Jacob Blair, who was an all-section and an All-West Central Conference player, earned the team’s Most Valuable Player Award.
Sophomore Dylan Alexander, who was also an all-section and an all-conference selection, won the team’s best offense award.
The team’s defensive player of the year award went to Jack Majerus, who is also a sophomore and was an all-conference selection.
Junior Jack Larson was named the team’s Most Improved Player while Dalton Friedrichs won the Coaches Leadership Award.

Rounding out the all-conference selections for the Lakers are senior Torii Johnson and honorable mention, junior PJ Johnson.
With a GPA of 3.75 or higher, Majerus, Alexander, Larson, sophomores Ryland Martin, Alex Panitzke, Austin Weber, as well as freshmen Thomas Poegel and Levi Johnson earned spots on the All-Academic West Central Conference team.
Rounding out the team awards, Caden Larson was named the C Squad MVP, Levi Johnson won the JV MVP and JV Most Improved awards, Luke Danielson won the C Squad Most Improved award, Owen Meulebroeck won the C Squad Best Defense award and Ross Thorfinnson earned the JV Most Improved award.
Spring sports wrap
