Baseball: Klimek, Mages brothers take home Osakis honors

Osakis was led by All-Prairie Conference players in seniors Bauer Klimek and Brady Mages. At the season’s end, Mages was named the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, while Klimek won the team’s Golden Glove award for his defensive play.

OSAKIS — After finishing the 2021 season with a 5-13 record, the Osakis baseball program took a step forward by finishing with an 8-9 record in the 2022 season.

At one point in the season, the Silverstreaks had an 8-5 record but lost their final three games of the regular season and were bounced out of the Section 3AA Playoffs with a 3-2 loss to the Kimball Area Cubs on May 31.

The Silverstreaks had a six-game winning streak going from May 9-19.

The Alexandria girls erased a halftime deficit and defeated Marshall on the road, while the Brandon-Evansville boys shot the ball well in its win over Rothsay.

Kyle and Grant Mages, both sophomores, were all-conference honorable mentions this year as well. Kyle Mages won the team’s Most Valuable Pitcher award while Grant Mages took home the team’s Most Improved Player award.
