Jon Holte was fishing on Lake Geneva on Aug. 17 when he landed the best walleye the Holte family has caught in the area.

Jon, who lives in Lakeville and is the son of Alexandria's Mike Holte, was fishing with his brother, Bryan, when Bryan wanted to try for walleyes instead of bass.

"Bryan suggested some deep-water jigging, and it paid off with the biggest walleye we have seen on (Geneva) since we moved to the lake eight years ago," Mike said.

The walleye measured 27 inches. A length-to-weight conversion chart puts the fish at about 8.12 pounds. Jon released the walleye after a few photos.
