Trap shooting: Hibbing wins 4A team title, 99 takes high gun
Day four of the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League championship wrapped up in Alexandria on Thursday as Hibbing won the Class 4A team championship.
Hibbing shot a five-person score of 483 out of a possible 500. Hopkins finished second at 480 and Irondale was third with a 475.
Jack Knaus of Kimball and Isaac Peterson of St. Charles High School both finished with a 99 out of 100 to lead the varsity field overall. Knaus won a tiebreaker over Peterson with a reverse run of 31 to secure the top overall high gun award.
Five different shooters shot a 98 behind Knaus and Peterson in Hopkins’ Sam Barczak and Mason Donat, Hibbing’s Tore Tuin and Samuel Juidici and Cathedral’s Mike Lyon.
The Class 5A schools shoot at the Alexandria Shooting Park on Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. The Alexandria trap shooting team shoots with the Class 7A schools on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.
