Outdoor briefs: Banquets coming up in the area
The annual Douglas County Pheasants Forever banquet is set for Feb. 23 at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria.
Crowing hour starts at 4:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7:15. Proceeds from the banquet fund the Youth Outdoor Activity Day in Alexandria each August. Last year's youth day drew 2,212 kids and 4,000 people in all. Douglas County PF also funds area youth trap teams and habitat projects, with 100 percent of the money made being controlled by the local committee.

Whitetails Unlimited is hosting its Minnesota Lakes Deer Camp banquet on March 16 at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria.
Games, raffles and social hour begin at 5 p.m. Dinner choice of a stuffed pork chop or lasagna (or chicken strips for kids) will follow at 6:30. Tickets are $35 each or $25 for kids ages 15 and younger.

West Central Hunters for Habitat
The West Central Hunters for Habitat's annual Valentine's Dance/Banquet is set for Feb. 16.
The banquet will be at the Kensington Bar/Ballroom and admission is free. This year's 21st annual event starts at 5:30 p.m. that Saturday.
There will be a DJ, along with games, general raffle and live and silent auctions. Appetizers will be served throughout the night.
Money raised from the banquet goes toward local projects, such as the group's food plot program that helps landowners plant wildlife plots on their property. The West Cenral Hunters for Habitat also helps out with the Youth Outdoor Activity Day every August in Alexandria.
