A busy start to the season for the Osakis girls tennis team continued on Monday as the Silverstreaks took sixth in an eight-team tournament in Pine City.
Osakis scored 16 team points, while Litchfield won the tournament with 28. Pine City was second with 27 points, and Bemidji rounded out the top three with 23.

No team points were accumulated for the fourth doubles division, but the Osakis duo of Hatti Schmidtbauer and Madi Collins won that division. Lexi Spychalla had Osakis’ next-best finish as she took second at fourth singles. Mara VanNyhuis was fourth at first singles, and Leah Maddock (sixth place, second singles) and Larissa Hoffarth (seventh place, third singles) rounded out the singles lineup.

Kennedy George and Ellie George were fourth at first doubles. Makenzie Lien and Tessa Stanek at second doubles and Bria Hoffarth and Madeline Anderson at third doubles both finished third in their division.
“Today was a good day for our team to get a chance to play against strong competition,” Silverstreaks head coach Ryan Maddock said. “We were happy each girl or doubles team was able to come away with at least one win. We had many matches where we were able to get it to a third set super tiebreaker and just were not able to convert those to wins today. Today's experience should be helpful as we continue our season.”
