At a Feb. 16, 2023, meeting, The Viking Sportsmen elected Tim Olson, President; Todd Lanners, Vice President; Mike McDaniel, Vice President; Jim Stratton, Treasurer; and Dave Hochhalter, Secretary. Chris Kleine will serve as Past President.
The Viking Sportsmen’s mission is to support and improve the conservation of wildlife and its habitat by establishing educational programs and conservation practices designed to preserve and enhance natures wealth in Minnesota for future generations.
The Viking Sportsmen along with Douglas County Pheasants Forever organizes Youth Outdoor Activity Day, this is a free event with over 45 outdoor activities for kids and families to participate in. Viking Sportsmen is also involved with the following programs, projects, or events: Archery & Trap Shooting in our area Schools; Land Acquisition, Restoration, and Property Management; Wildlife Habitat Enhancement; Walleye Stocking; Trout Stocking at Spruce Creek; Outdoor Gear Library thru Community Ed; Take a Kid Fishing Day; Firearm Safety Classes; Art Engelbrecht & Bill Banke Scholarships; Youth Food Plots; Archery Range at Spruce Hill Park; Fish Frys, Docks & Trails at Discovery Middle School, and support of Let’s Go Fishing for Seniors, Youth, and Physically Challenged.
