Northland Outdoors Forecast: Showers in the region this weekend

Some of us will end up having a very mild and pleasant fall weekend while other parts of the Northern Plains will deal with cooler afternoons and periods of showers.

We are part of The Trust Project.

Showers move into the western Dakotas keeping temperatures much cooler there compared to the rest of the region. Temperatures could even reach into the 80s for parts of southern and southeastern South Dakota. I'm seeing a fairly pleasant day for Minnesota and Wisconsin. A few showers may sneak into the Red River Valley throughout the day.

Saturday's outlook for the region.
StormTRACKER Weather

Winds will be on the lighter side and generally out of the east for Minnesota and Wisconsin Saturday. A breeze out of the east and northeast will keep pats of North Dakota much cooler with the combination of rain showers moving in to start of this weekend.

Showers are likely for the western side of North Dakota with some showers spreading eastward into central and eastern North Dakota throughout the day Saturday. I'm not seeing a wash out by any means for the Red River Valley, but a chance of showers will linger throughout Saturday.

Temperatures will get that nice boost into some lower 70s with the aid of a southeasterly wind. Sustained winds may reach into the mid-teens Sunday. Best shot for the breezy conditions will be the eastern Dakotas and the western side of Minnesota.

I grew up in Minnesota and my love of the outdoors lead me on a path to becoming in meteorologist. I got my Bachelor of Science in meteorology at St. Cloud State University. I started out my career as a TV meteorologist in Bismarck at KX News in 2010. I left Bismarck for Fargo in the fall of 2015 where I've been since working for WDAY as well as The Forum.
