Nicholas Adams wins second straight Men’s Regular title
Adams looks to make jump to Men’s Champs next year.
Nicholas Adams has accomplished what he wanted to do in the Men’s Regular Division’s 1st Flight at the Resorters by winning his second straight championship on Saturday at the Alexandria Golf Club.
Now it sounds like he’s ready to make the jump up. Adams said during the awards ceremony at AGC that he plans to play in the Men’s Championship Division in 2022. He rolled through the tournament this year by winning 4-3 in his first two rounds.
Adams had a little tougher time in a 3-1 win over Alexandria’s Brandon Bistodeau that sent him to the title match. Once there, he beat 13th-seeded Michael Herzog in a 3-2 final.
Adams never trailed in the championship as he used pars on Nos. 1, 2 and 5 to grab a 3-up lead. Herzog got his first of three wins at hole 6 with a birdie, but Adams responded right back with a birdie win of his own at the par-3 7th.
Herzog struck with a par win at 9, but he could never couple his wins with another before Adams got it back. Adams won Nos. 10 and 13 with pars. Herzog got a birdie win at the par-5 12th, but both players parred Nos. 14, 15 and 16 as Adams’ lead held up.
