The race for season point championships at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria is coming down the stretch run with the season championship night coming up on Aug. 28.

The Viking Speedway is scheduled to host its demolition derby as part of the Douglas County Fair on Aug. 20. This past Saturday, four drivers took home the checkered flag with feature wins in the four main classes.

Brandon’s Josh Muzik won the nine-car Midwest Modifieds feature ahead of Alexandria’s Shawn Olson in second and Dalton’s Ron Saurer in third. It was Muzik’s second Midwest Modifieds feature win of the summer at Viking.

Olson has a 180-point lead in the season point standings in the Midwest Mods. Taylor Bitzan of Brandon is second, and Muzik is third.

Josh Thoennes of Nelson won for the second time in his Modified in Alexandria this summer as he took the nine-car feature race on Saturday. Brandon’s Dustin Bitzan was second, and Hawley’s Blake Jegtvig was third.

Villard’s Brady Gerdes is still looking for his first feature win in Modifieds at Alexandria in 2021, but he has been consistently up front with 10 top-five finishes. That has him in first place in the season point standings (1,200 points). Dustin Bitzan is second (1,174 points) and Travis Saurer of Elizabeth is third (1,115 points).

In Street Stocks, Ryan Satter of Dent continued his dominant run this summer. He won ahead of Eagle Bend’s Roger Berkness in second and Alexandria’s Craig Gardner in third.

Satter has a track championship easily locked up right now with a 205-point lead in the Street Stock point standings. He has nine wins in Alexandria in 2021.

Trevor Saurer of Dalton secured a fifth win this summer in the Super Stocks feature. Glenwood’s Karter Reents was second, and Matt Miller of Glenwood finished third with 10 cars in the field.

Trevor Saurer has a 47-point lead over Miller in the Super Stock season point standings. Saurer has 10 top-five finishes in all. Jeff Crouse of Alexandria, who has four wins this summer, is third in the Super Stock point standings heading into the final regular season race night.

Shawn Robinson of Dalton won the short trackers feature race on Saturday ahead of Jeff Hanson of Barrett and David Wahl of Fergus Falls.
